God has a sense of humor with the hiring of Urban Meyer as the new head coach of Ohio State and all.
So, UF students, which dorms are the best?
Why you should hate Auburn…
Florida plays Auburn this Saturday. It’s the first time the teams have met since 2007 when Auburn beat Florida in the Swamp 20-17.
Following the trend of pointing out reasons to disdain the Auburn Tigers (from andyhutchins, nataliegrace13, and gatornicole), I’ll let you know why I have some resentment towards Auburn that won’t be gone until Florida beats them.
The game in 2006 wasn’t too bad. I was more sad than angry. Even then, that was one of the best days of my entire life. It was my first Florida game (I live in Alabama with two Auburn-fan parents, not that easy to make it to UF games under these circumstances) and I was able to go down on the field for warm-ups. I watched Tim Tebow warm up from about 10 feet away. I saw the receivers take reps catching over-the-shoulder passes in the endzone. Tebow, Harvin, Cooper… all my favorites right there in front of me. At that point, no matter what happened in that game, it was going to be a night I’d never forget.
Fast-forward a year to the Auburn-Florida game in 2007. This was where the blood started to boil.
Auburn entered the game 2-2, Florida 4-0. I knew Florida had the better team and home-field advantage. I was almost certain Florida was going to win.
For some reason, Florida’s offense was cold. Auburn went up early, but Florida battled back.
But let’s skip to the worst part: the end.
With the game tied, Wes Byrum, Auburn’s kicker, lined up to kick the game-winning field goal. Auburn snapped the ball, the kick went through the uprights.
I felt like my heart had been ripped out of me.
Then a gift from the football gods: a second chance.
Urban Meyer called a timeout right before the ball was snapped. At this point, I’m saying to myself “Good lord, Urban Meyer, I love you so freakin’ much.”
Auburn lined up again, and I’m thinking there’s no way in hell he makes this kick twice.
Sure enough he does. And then Byrum proceeds to do the Gator Chomp all over the field. I’ve hated him ever since.
Here’s what’s weird. The house where I was watching the game was a house full of Auburn fans, and the owners’ daughter went on to marry the Auburn player who held the kick for Byrum.
It was a nightmare.
So there’s one reason.

Here’s another.
Last year during Auburn’s championship* season, rumors circulated about Cam Newton receiving impermissible benefits from Auburn. There were also rumors that he left Florida because of academic fraud.
While actively dismissing rumors that Newton received anything improper to go to Auburn, when the rumors about Urban Meyer starting both rumors appeared Auburn fans were quick to take them as fact.
So, let me get this straight. Rumors are only true if they don’t apply to Auburn?
Oh, that’s good to know.
“I don’t operate on rumors and innuendo or anything of that nature.” - Gene Chizik on the pay-for-play allegations
Well, your fans certainly do. And they don’t. When it’s convenient for them.

Here’s another one.
Last year during Auburn’s championship* season, after the SEC Championship Game, Urban Meyer voted Oregon No. 1 and Auburn No. 2 in the coaches poll.
Urban Meyer had Oregon No. 1 most of the season.
Auburn fans couldn’t believe someone would dare vote for their team lower than No. 1. The uproar over Meyer’s Auburn “diss” was incredibly stupid.
Auburn fans believed Meyer hated them and that it was a little jab to put them at No. 2. I mean, get over yourselves.
You ever think that just maybe Meyer thought Oregon was a little better?
Nah, Auburn fans operate in rumors and innuendo.
Auburn fans even complained about Urban Meyer being in the booth for the Auburn-Clemson game this season.
Give me a break.

So, there. Auburn Hate Week.
Chomp, chomp!
Sporting News released a ranking of the top sports cities in the US.
Gainesville, Fla. checks in at No. 55, one spot in front of — this is pretty funny — Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Tallahassee, Fla. is ranked No. 75… cause, you know, they suck.
